european earth worms invade america

Did you know that the famous and loved earth worms of Europe were not present in north-east America before they were recently introduced as fishing baits?
There were earth worms in America quite some time ago, before the ice age came and killed them all. Now, the introduced earth worms disrupt some ecosystem relationships altering the species composition.

what is it? a lovely old school coffee place combined with a flower shop. two parrots are living there too giving the place a true jungle feeling. try the chocolate tart.and the old cat is very very cute. old mirrors and interior make you feel like in another century. brilliant place for a relaxed stop over or long talks with a good friend.

the nice crew serves meaty and a few vegetarian dishes with an international touch.
you can also sit outside in the summer and the decoration is hip but not intimidating. I shared two dishes with my friend, the kimchi omlette burger ("egg foo young burger" really good) and the wok tofu (also good but I liked the other one better). we also had kimchi and hommos for starters. Strawberry juice spritzer and ginger ale for drinks. another friend had the malfatti and they smelled and looked nice too. you can check out their menu online, it is on their website. the yellow button.. but only in german..
its a place for a first date, meeting some friends or just hanging out on your own after a stressy work day.

a restaurant for every day. little decoration, dimmed lights, simple chairs and tables, superb food. full house but still good atmosphere (reserve if you can) and then the food. oh my. I want to go there again. try the dish house style with the cooking banana (can't remeber the name). 

i had: pot of tea, chef's special dish with cooking banana (you will find it in about the centre of the menu page) and one other dish (my friend and I ordered two and shared). it was both very nice.

coo coo cookies

I got myself a easter cookie stamp with a cute little rabbit face on it.. this is the recipe for delisious cookies. (it came with the stamp, so it is not my own. but you can see that I altered it as I did not have marzipan and it worked out just fine.)

250 gr flour (I used whole grain spelt flour)

150 gr butter

100 gr marzipan (I used ground almond and a spoon of butter plus 50 grams sugar additionally)

50 gr sugar (or 100 gr if you substitute the marzipan with almonds..)

1 package vanille sugar

1 eggyolk

1 pinch of salt

mix everything (first with a spoon, then with the hands) until a dough forms. put into fridge for half an hour. preheat oven to 175 degrees Celcius (air circulation 150°C). put stamp into some flour. form balls (size of a golf ball or a ping pong ball) and flatten it a bit with the hand. then stamp the cookie. put onto baking tray which has baking paper on. bake 12-15 minutes (no more!). when the cookies come out, they are still soft and crumbly but when they cool down, they become perfect.

clean silicone of the stamp (take off from wooden stamp before).

so nice, sitting on a unpretentious street on a wooden table in a wooden chair, some people coming by from time to time but time seems to stand still for a moment when having this icecream in your hands and tasting it the first time. (you can also get take away in a box for the freezer.)
